Getting married should be the single most amazing event in your life. Following it up with a trip to Indochina can cap of the event with a honeymoon you will never, ever forget.

Honeymoons in Exotic Indochina

Indochina is a term used to describe a portion of Southeast Asia that includes Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. This area is a vacationer's paradise with its breathtaking beauty, interesting culture and luxurious resorts. Indochina honeymoons are a great way to see this unique part of the world. What better way to share your first vacation together than in an exotic and foreign locale?

Indochina is so named because of the influences brought to the area by China (as seen in Vietnam) and India (as seen in Laos and Cambodia). Most of the residents of this area are Buddhists in their religious practices, although each of the countries having their own language and culture. Indochina honeymoons are an excellent way to experience the similarities and unique aspects of each country.

Vietnam is a country of rice paddies and mountains with many temples and natural wonders to be seen. Vietnam offers sandy beaches and areas with a private deserted feel – perfect for couples who would like to be alone. Bamboo huts welcome visitors with the promise of a unique stay, and locals add a blend of charm and mystery to the area.

Cambodia offers its own unique culture with a capital city that is heavily influenced by the earlier colonial rule of the French. A city devastated during the reign of the Khmer Rouge, Phnom Penh has come back so quickly it is hard to imagine the city was actually deserted for three years. A few hours outside of the city by boat lays Siem Riep and the amazing Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is to Cambodia what the pyramids are to Egypt. Frankly, Angkor Wat is much more impressive if you can believe it. Farther to the south you will find the pristine beaches of Cambodia on the Gulf of Thailand. Sihanoukville is a sleepy little beach town where you can roast in the sun during the day and watch lightning storms over the gulf at night. Although the country is on the rebound, keep in mind there is a certain Wild, Wild West feel to Cambodia. For those looking for the exotic, this is the place.

Finally, no trips to Indochina would be complete without seeing Laos. This country is one of the Southeast Asian area's least developed countries, and also one of the most beautiful. Here, untouched lands allow people to explore the natural scenery and hike the unspoiled trails that grace the area. Laos is still a functional communist country, but the communism practiced is very relaxed. For excitement, you can take river boat cruises, which are akin to sitting in a canoe and going fifty miles an hour over the water. Laos is also the home to many Buddhist sanctuaries. If Buddhism is your thing, welcome to nirvana.

Indochina offers newlyweds the chance to start off life together with a trip they will never forget. Prices run in the $3,000 range depending upon the time and luxury you desire. Once in the area, local prices are incredibly cheap given a currency crises that occurred in 1998. You can literally shop till you drop for fine silk, art and practically anything.
